sarahspitz:

Braved the frigid air for the second day in a row to pick up some delicious eats from the NYC Restaurant Week Soup Truck which parked itself conveniently one block from my office.
I missed out on the lobster bisque on day one (they ran out before 12:30) but these both more than made up for it:
Butternut squash leek soup with cranberry beans and sage croutons from Nice Matin
Roasted winter squash and carrot bisque from ‘21’ Club
YUM! Can’t wait till I can afford to do a real restaurant week meal.

Special Koreatown field trip to the Koo’s Grill truck at California Market for $1 Korean Sweet Rice Pancakes.  Toothsome pancake filled with lightly oozing combination of brown sugar, ground peanuts and cinnamon. I don’t know why I’m telling you this when it should so clearly stay a secret.

My mind must by foggy from the edible incredible.

Every trip to Koreatown is special. :)

Though mobile food trucks nationwide have seen a huge upswing in business in a down economy, Portland’s food carts (they call them carts, though they are actually trucks) have their own maverick character. Unlike most cities, where food trucks are truly mobile (and in many cases laws require them to move after a certain period), in Portland about 90% of its 400 carts never leave their spaces. Instead pods of food carts are nestled side by side in parking lots all over the city. They stay permanently at the location, paying a monthly fee of about $500. missconceptions:

With three storefronts open (and fourth in Santa Monica soon), Umami Burger is taking its popular food to the streets. Its purpose is three-fold, however, according to Eater LA.
With delays in opening the Santa Monica location at Fred Segal, the truck will park there as a temporary restaurant. This is expected to happen soon.
The popular restaurant is frequently asked to do catering gigs and a catering truck makes it easier.
With the Twittering mobile food craze in its height, why not join on in on the fun?!?!
